We have a fish!

Xelly had 5 days of swim lessons and now she is a fish.
She is terrified to float by herself but she is loving not having a life jacket on.

This will make Lake Powell a little easier knowing she can tread water... An a little scarier knowing she's pretty comfortable in the water. Thankfully so far she hasn't wanted to get in the water and swim unless someone is by her.

She had to swim down to grab the ring. She was so proud of herself!!

She did so great we rewarded ourselves with ice cream!!

Just keep swimming just keep swimming

Birthday Girl Big 04

Xelly woke up and ran into my room. She climbed on my bed and smiled then stood up and said "mom look how big I am- I'm 4!!!" Then he showed me how her Pjs were to her knees and now are not. (They are just to small)
We played and made necklaces and bracelets- are yummy cereal and waited for Q to wake up... He didn't till 11:50.

All xelly wanted for her birthday was to go camping. So we went to the grocery store then home to start packing. She didn't even open her gifts and still hasn't. She didn't care about them because camping is what she wanted so campin is where we went.

Xelly at 4.
Is amazing. Is the sweetest. Has the best imagination. Loves her brother. Thinks moms the coolest and dads the funniest. Loves the park, riding her bike, coloring and anythig artsy.

She is a night owl till she hits her pillow. She lives for bedtime stories and playing dolls. She's a sweetheart and I love her.
3 was super hard so let's see if 4 is easier!

4th Birthday Party!

Like every other girl and possibly boy in the world Xelly wanted a "Frozen let it go" party!
So that we did.
She got to pick the theme, colors, decorations, food, and pick what friends she wanted to come to her first all kid party! It was a party after her own mind.
Plus- it was a only girls party- the only boys he let come were her dad, brother and her grandpas. She even had to think twice about it's being okay for her grandpas to come.

She had so much fun- I took four photos. Oops. And those were all before the party and before decor was finished ha. Thankfully some others took pictures

My Olaf

Xelly's Olaf- I like hers better haha!  We used hers as the welcome sign.

All she wanted for her birthday was this dress- my mom found it at 6am at Walmart after tey just restocked everything "frozen"
Notice the place settings in the back? That's exactly how she wanted them to look.
Her frozen sky
Pin the nose on Olaf.

Q had to be apart of everything!!

Snowball toss to win the awesome prizes! Xelly was beyond excited about everything!

Lunch time
Cake time

"If frozen doesn't brush her teeth then he looks like dis"

She had the time of her life.

Sick little Xelly bug

Xelly got sick back in Febuary- by far the worst sickness she has had.
It started mild then one night I checked on her and she felt super got but we didn't have any thermometers thanks to Quinton who likes to hide things.
Jacob ran to the store and we checked her she was fevering at 104.9. Cold cloths and medicine got her to 101 and she slept good all night.
The day time was better for her, she just wanted to lay around and rest.
After about 4pm her fever spiked to 105.8 and she started shaking. Our neighbor and home teacher is a kids doctor so he came to check in her and give her a blessing.
She had strep, double puss ear infection and some heat rash from the high fever.
After constant meds, liquids and sleep  she fevered for another day or two before she woke up up with no fever for 24hrs.

That was the worst week of no sleep and sick kid we hve ever had.

My Xelly girl

"I have lots of nipples"

Today has been the hardest day for Xelly and I in a long time. Lately we have not been seein eye to eye on rules. I feel like she is 17 telling me she's going to date who she wants and I can't stop her.

No matter what I ask her to do I have to ask 3-5 times before she listens. It's driving me crazy.

She is the sweetest little girl and has the biggest heart but today we were just not ourselves.
I tried to explain to her that I was in a off mood. She could no figure out what I meant. I said "I'm a little happy, a little sad, and a little angry today" and she just looked at me confused so I made a happy, sad then angry face over and over till she started giggling. Then she told me "your just crazy". She couldn't of been more right!

After Jacob got home and the non listening continued I got so upset I told Jacob "I'm glad we're not pregnant right now because after today I don't think I could handle another kid" after I said that my heart hurt because I knew that's not how I felt.

Not every day is a bad day but thankfully the bad ones are soon forgotten and replaced with happy giggles and jokes.

Xely is my best little friend. Every day she will randomly say "I love you mommy" then I reply with "I love you more Xelly" and she says "I love you ebent more" then we continue to say we love eachother more than something really big till we both give into laughter. The other day she ended with "I love you eben bigger than my baby toe" that one got us both laughing!

Bring a mom is hard. Putting my kids before me is hard some days. Having to take away a fun activity or reward because she didn't listen breaks my heart as much as her own.

I am glad I get this opportunity to be a mom and to grow with my kids. They sure teach me every day.

Cast free!!

5 weeks after her fall she got her cast off!

Before

After

So is still excited and talked about her wrist not being broken almost every day!

Nurse asking if it hurt she responded "no way"

The machine at this office was way cooler than the one at urgent care.
The machine just sat on her lap and click then the photo was on the screen.

He said the break just missed her growth plate thankfully!
It didn't cause any damage so she won't have any issues later!

One happy cast free girl!!
Her first swing after she got her cast off on the swing she broke it on.
Now she makes sure to hold on with two hands so she doesn't fall!

Pretty pink arm

On Monday morning I woke up at 7:50 to be ready. The Doctors office opened at 8am and I was in need of an appointment that day. Especially after a weekend if tears because she Xelly kept tweaking her wrist.
I'm convinced I was the first phone call of the day because once my phone clock clicked from 7:59 to 8:00 I pushed "call" I was so ready.
Luckily they had one appointment open for Monday at 1:30 and that was the only appt. till Friday my prayers were answered.
We got to the office and as we were walking up to the hospital doors Xelly became very nervous I had to keep telling her it was okay, and that I was right there with her. She was very concerned that Jacob wasn't with us but I kept telling her he was on his way.
Once inside she found the toys and was in heaven.
They are building Jesus' house per Xellys request. Aka the Gilbert Temple

When the lady called us back she changed back into her nervous self and even hid under the check up table so the lady couldn't get her.
After convincing the lady took off the stinky brace and moved around Xellys wrist picking and turning it to see where it hurt. As expected Xelly was not a fan.
The Doctor gave us the option of a regular cast or a removable cast.
We picked the removable one so she could still take normal baths and let her arm breath from time to time.
Xelly picked pink and was excited to wear it once she realized it wouldn't hurt last the other one did.
The cast was originally squishy and bendable so to form it they heated it up then put it on her and held it in place. Slowly the cast cooled and hardened into the shape it needed to be to fit her arm.
It's removable just like a snowboard boot. You pull up on the black button and then take it off then when putting it on slide your hand it then turn the button to tighten it and push the button down to lock in place.
What she wears under the cast so it doesn't rub.

Coolest thing ever!! She can play in sand, water, mud anything and we just take it off and rinse it with cold water.
Her cousins think she's pretty cool to get a pink bracelet to wear! Ha
She has adjusted well but has a hard time getting her pants up and down for the bathroom and her cast gets stuck in her sleeves while getting dressed.
Other than that she loves that it matches her clothing and likes to show people the little breathing holes in it.

We go back in 4 weeks to get it checked again. Just 3 days before our Powell trip so hopefully she will be cast free but won't slow her down either way!

First big fall

Our poor little girl fractured her arm.
A buckle fracture to be exact-
On Friday we were at my parents hose taking care of our cat when my parents surprised us and got home early.
We hung out ate and played then Xelly wanted to show my mom the pumpkins. After viewing them Xelly wanted to swing so being the amazing grandma that my mother is she gave into the big brown eyed girl and pushed her on the swing.
Xelly let go with one hand to wave goodbye to a butterfly and off she fell. My mom scooped her up and brought her in. Her cry was not her normal hurt cry so I was a tad worried. My mom said she bonked her head and was worried it hit to hard but I was more concerned with her hand and asked right away of it was broken.
We put some oils on it and headed home. Xelly fell asleep in the car and slept till about 1am when she came into our room because her wrist was hurting. I told Jacob I was worried something was broken but decided I would wait till morning to check it out because she kept falling asleep. She slept on our floor for a while and would cry each time she rolled onto her hand but then quickly fall asleep again. Her cry broke my heart so instead of sleeping I did some research.
The next morning I watched her as she played. She didn't seem to be bothered by it but was being extra careful with it when picking up toys. When I would squeeze it or twist it she would wince. Jacob and my dad got to our house around 8 and I asked them to look at it, Jacob said to just ice it because it was probably just a bad sprain and I told him I was going to take her to the doctor because I fell I was more than that.
She agreed to go to the Doctor as long as she got to watch a movie first. So a movie for her and a nap for brother then we were off.
We got he urgent care around noon and got her heckled out. She was nervous because she thought she was going to get a shot.

She did amazing though.
She for 3 pictures taken of her lower arm/wrist/hand.
She was so brave!

I had to wait across the hall with Q. She looked so small.

The doctor came in a few minutes later to tell us that she indeed had fractured her arm right above the wrist area. A buckle fracture is common in kids her age that break bones because at this age the boned are still jello like so it normally won't snap as easily. He told me a buckle fracture is like trying to snap a small wet/green branch. it kinda bends and moves but doesn't break all the way through. He said we need to wrap all the time except for baths-then go to get a cast on as soon as possible.
She was not happy it wasn't pink but thought it was cute how tiny it is.
Today after her bath I looked at it and its starting to bruise a little.
She is one tough cookie.
When I called Jacob to tell him the results he said "I guess that's why we listen to mothers intuition." Amen to that!

She has twisted in twice while playing and ends up in tears. So I'm looking forward to a hard cast so its not so easily hurt.
Broken bones are no fun!
Especially when the cast will have to stay on for 4-6 weeks and were suppose to be going to lake Powell in 4.5 weeks.
Pray for a fast and perfect recovery!!

P.s this was her second time falling off the swing. Grandma is not at all responsible!!
