up and downs with blessings in disguise

In February Jacob and I planned to buy a house- we discovered that we were able to and wanted to use our tax return to help.
The goal was the buy a USDA load house with 0% down and buy cheap, live in it for a few years then rent it out to then find a house for us with an acre.

We looked and looked, found a house for 130,000 and put in an offer. The next day Jacob got called into his boss' office and was asked if he liked his job. By the way Jacob didnt- he disliked it very much and always came home irritated and unapproachable. Anyways, Jacobs boss asked him to resign if he didn't like his job or told him that in a month he knew Jacob would be back in his office quitting. So Jacob resigned from his job and the house idea flew out the window.

Instead of using the tax money to fix up a house, we lived on the tax return for 2-3 months while Jacob looked for work. Ironically Jacob had applied for a position a few days before resigning and had his first interview with Infusionsoft the day he resigned. Confused yet? The job Jacob applied for at Infusionsoft had a start date of April 7, thats 2 months away with no income. Along with a far away start date the interview process consisted of
1. 2, 15 min phone interviews
2. a mock up where Jacob had to pretend to be a consultant
3. a panel interview
4 a week long assignment to create a business plan using their software and present it to some managers.

Jacob did some side paint jobs for my dad to bring in money, My grandma passed away while he was unemployed and that was a blessing because I was able to be with her her last few days on this earth. Attend her funeral in Utah, help clean out her house and hold a 7 day garage sale. While money was tight we were able to spend so much awesome time together!

Jacob got a job with a small company from Germany called Shop gate and worked for them for 3 weeks while going through the very lengthy 8 week interview process with infusionsoft.  When Jacob got the job offer from Infusionsoft he still had 2 weeks till the start date. He told Shop-gate that he would be leaving and they were not thrilled because he was the top performer- they offered him way more pay with benefits (they don't give benefits to employees) if he would stay and work for them. He passed and started with Infusionsoft on April 7th.

My best friends husband works at Infusionsoft and I had been trying to get Jacob to work there for a long time but its a very hard place to get into. They have over 800 applications a week and have been ranked #1 business to work for. Jacob applied once before and received an email that his application had not even been viewed by the time they hired for that position.

Jacob has loved working there. He invested in his first 2 Nerff guns (they have scary legit nerff gun wars) and we went to his training graduation and got to walk around and see all the cool things they have, Like a cereal bar, game room with X-box, basketball hoops, massage chairs, fooseball, a big football field, blow up giraffe statue.
Xelly with the baloon animal

This is a wall made out of soft chair things, Its rad and impossible to push over.

This is Jacobs "sproutling" graduation

This is the office. The center is the football area and all the offices are open and around the football area.

Better picture of the bow up statue.

And the yummy cereal bar. I believe they go through like 85 gallons a week. Then the have a smoothie bar and those cool sada machines where you just push on the screen.

So... if you are still reading...

We signed on for another year in the house we are renting, working on getting back on track with income, and enjoying seeing Jacob come home happy from work.

I know that with how crazy everything was we were not suppose to live in the house we made an offer on. Sometimes the lord works in ways we would not like him to but in the end its easy to see the big picture. I would much rather have a house I can decorate and make it the way we like but one day when we are suppose to we will have a house. Till then we will ride this crazy ride.

This smile at the end of a work day makes the last 3 months worth it!

The Graduate.

The day finally came!
I had been looking forward to this amazing day for quite some time!!

I am so proud of Jacob for sticking to school and not giving up. He was a busy man between School, being manager for ADT UT and his callings in the church. First Primary then YM President.
He was always so excited after class to tell me what he learned even though it normally put me to sleep- or made my eyes heavy.
He stuck with it and that makes me proud!

This was taken from the top row but Jacobs dad went early and got 2nd row seats thankfully!

It was an amazing moment when his name was read. I think I had a tear well up in my eye but our Indian calls and excitement won over the emotional blubber mess that was trying to emerge.

Jacobs best Bud drive up to see him! Jacob was so shocked and excited.
Both sides of Parents came up for the big day!

Hurray! Now on to his Masters we go!
This time by family because I need my own support system... besides pizza!

Hidden Blessings

Two weeks ago Jacobs truck got broken into. The individuals that did it pried open his truck door frame till the window popped and shattered. Then they grabbed his backpack and gym bag then rummaged through the console took a few things from there and headed home. doesn't seem like much damage but on Tuesdays Jacob goes from work to school then sometimes basketball so this night in his backpack he had--

Drum role!

*family computer
(i had just uploaded all pictures and wiped memory card 2 nights before-bye memories)
*2 ipads
*wallet
*house keys
*car keys
*church keys
*watch
*ipod
*new football shoes
*both his glasses (prescription)
*ID badge & key card to his office
*blue tooth headphones
*SkullCandy headfones
-- that's all we have noticed missing. every few days we figure out something else that got stolen

Anyways we were not expecting this (obviously) so we were not prepared financially to pay to have his truck fixed, car keys re-programmed, house re keyed, plus our bills and rent payment.
We sat down and went over what money we needed to spend, and what we had coming in. Things unfortunately didn't quite add up.

A week ago we listed our guest bedroom set (that we got for free and refinished) on ksl and had no bites. On Sunday I said a prayer that we would be able to come up with the money that we needed to get things in order and a few hours later my parents called to make sure we were okay and offered to help any way they could- just knowing they were there for us was enough support! So grateful for family. Later that night I had 2 people ask about the bed set then on Monday I woke up to a few texts about the bedroom set and they kept coming all day. On Tuesday the bedroom set was sold and we had some money we needed but was still short about 200 bucks. So I put our piano on kls (tears) and it sold within 21 hours for exactly the amount we needed to get Jacobs truck fixed.

On Friday I went to get the mail and was taken back when I opened up a card with a check in it that said "I'm sorry you got robbed but at least you didn't get shot" -true that! It had 2 kittens in the picture- cracked me up! Then it said "here is some money so you guys can have a Christmas"
looks like hobbes and his puffy friend twigsy that comes to visit

Again on Saturday there was a letter and a Christmas gift that had a check attached to it- we really are being blessed.

Our prayers were answered and I know that we are being looked after and taken care of. I am grateful that people listened to the promptings of the holy ghost. The help we have gotten has truly helped us throughout this trial. It strengthens our testimonies to know that if we do what we are suppose to we will always be blessed even in ways we don't expect.   These trials can be hard, stressful, and make us want to go hunt down some people but I am glad after the fact that we were able to learn a valuable lesson from this.
Jacob was not harmed and belongings are just material objects that we can get by without. even though I shed a few tears at the fact of the only pictures I have from the past few years are what are on this blog.

We are grateful for everyone. We truly are blessed more than we know.

Friday is D-Day

Yesterday I had my Doctors Appointment.
I got checked and am at 3cm dilated and 60% effaced.
I was 3 Cm but when I hurt my leg it put me back to 1.5cm so this was good to hear I'm still progressing.

When Jacob heard the Doc say that I was actually dilating he was in shock because I was, as my last Doctor put it, "if I wanted to be generous I would say you are maybe a fingertip dilated...." thanks doc. and that was a week after my due date.
My Doc also stripped my membranes for the 2nd time in hopes that I can go into labor on my own

I cleaned all day yesterday and not a single cramp or anything other than swollen feet by the end of the day and well a still messy house due to a lazy weekend and getting over sickness. Pay back!
We scheduled my induction for Friday so I have to call that morning @ 6:30 to see if I am able to go in at some point that day.

Thursday didn't work out like we wanted because my Doc is in the OR that day but we will see-- once my mom gets here (we are beyond excited for her to get here!!!!!!) I will probably try out some other methods to get labor going in hopes to avoid pitocin. I have heard some fun storied about Castor Oil! :)
Its nice to know there is and end in sight! But now I am noticing that I need to pack my bag and maybe go grocery shopping for the first time in 2 weeks... (but I doubt that will happen)
Anyway...
Friday sounds like a good day.
10-12-12.
Lets do this!

Sorry... We sing this song allot of Fridays at our house.
Its just so well written.

I'm lucky

I feel pretty lucky to have this guy in my life.
My cousin was in town this week talking about her new boyfriend and how she got butterflies the first time she kissed him.
It made me think back to when I met Jacob... our first time meeting, fun dates, motorcycle rides, first kiss (I made the first move), getting engaged and everything from then on.
He is such an amazing man and father. A total wack-nut sometimes but he makes life so much fun and I'm glad I get to spend eternity with him!

Gift for Papa

For Pa's (jacobs) Christmas gift from Xelly we went to Color me mine. I decided to pick something that Jacob could use and show off. I figured hey how about a business card holder. Sounds lame but looks so cute!
Xelly picked the colors and painted the entire thing all by herself.
She had so much fun and Jacob got a little water in his eye when he opened it Christmas morning.

Its blurry but each time we go to visit Jacob at work there it is sitting on his desk with his cards in it and Xelly gets so excited each time she sees it.
Thats a gift he will always cherish

Jacob Beach

"Aim high, but do not aim so high that you totally miss the target. What really matters is that he will love you, that he will respect you, that he will honor you, that he will be absolutely true to you, that he will give you the freedom of expression and let you fly in the development of your own talents. He is not going to be perfect, but if he is kind and thoughtful, if he knows how to work and earn a living, if he is honest and full of faith, the chances are you will not go wrong, that you will be immensely happy."

-Gordon B Hinckley

He is my kind of perfect.

Happy Fathers Day and Dinner!!

Happy 2nd Fathers Day Jacob!
He got
A Watch
Sandals
A Wet Dry Vac
a cute colored letter from Xells

Jacob is the best dad to our little girl. We wait for him to get home and when Xells sees his car she points and heads straight to the driveway.
She giggles non stop when dad is around- he just makes everything more exciting and so much fun!
Nothing beats a fathers love when she gets a bobo.
Jacob is her everything!!

Happy Fathers day!!

Next.
My dad is the best dad I could ever ask for! He has always been their for me and is such a great example to me. He does more than he knows and his actions of service have helped so many!

My father in law is so nice and caring. Jacob is lucky to have him for a father and I am glad he helped make Jacob into the man he is today!

For dinner I made Baked Salmon with Pineapple salsa and Baked Asparagus! YUMMM!
cover pan with foil
Poor some Pineapple juice over each salmon then sprinkle Ms. Dash (the original blend) over each one.
Bake at 375 degrees for 5-10 min. or until fish is cooked and flaky.

Cut up pineapple, red, orange, yellow, and green, pepper, some habanero pepper, and cilantro
poor a little extra pineapple juice in mix and eat along side with salmon or with chips!

Then I did Baked Asparagus!
Place asparagus on pan add oil till each is coated with oil. then sprinkle parmigiana cheese and garlic spice over the top. place in oven at 450 for 15 min! Yum! my husband likes it a little burnt so if you don't cook a little less.
